Topics I've Started

  1. Indoor Gym flying.

    Posted 8 Dec 2008

I am looking at getting some time at Nedrose School for use of their gym sometime in the next few weeks, probably over their Christmas vacation.
I need to know who would be interested in some Sunday afternoon flying for a few hours. I need an accurate count of people and types of aircraft. It is an average size gym, 20'-25ft ceiling, probably 60'x100' I think.
  2. MX400 heli blades

    Posted 4 Dec 2008

I have a slightly used set of MX400 blades for sale if anyone is interested.

    Main rotor blades . $ .25
    Tail rotor blades. $ .50

Buy as a set. $25.00 and all of the flourescent glass you would like as a free gift. I would even be willing to throw in a modified fly bar as well.
  3. Electric Powered Aircraft setup

    Posted 4 Dec 2008

When setting up a new electric powered model, it is wise to disconnect the motor prior to changing any settings in your radio that you aren't sure about. See the crashes section for details.
  4. Let the ridicule begin!

(edited by the pilot for content from the original message to Erik.)
    I F'd up UP!!!!

So, I got everything mounted for testing, cg seemed good and it was spinning up nicely. Thought all of my curves and everything were close to what they needed to be and took it out to the garage for some testing.

I spun it up a few times and sort of hovered on the training gear and was noticing that if I pushed forward on the elevator the blades would tip forward and to the right I think. That's how it was for all of the directions, rudder seemed slow, but was responsive. All other directions seemed to put the blades at an angle instead of forward/backward, left/right. So I shut it down to look through the settings just to see if there was anything for the type of collective. I went into the modes to see if it maybe needed to be on heli2 and as soon as I hit the button I realized many different things in about 3 seconds.
    1. The motor just spun up.
    2. THE MOTOR JUST SPUN UP TO FULL SPEED, AWE $&@*!!! !
    3. The heli goes straight up EXTREMELY fast.
    4. My garage ceiling is too low.
    5. $!@#, $!@#, $!@#, $!@#, $!@#....... $&@*!!!
    6. So that's what a flourescent light sounds like when it explodes from a 3000rmp rotor head hitting it.
    7. So that's what a rotor head sounds like when it explodes from hitting a flourescent light.
    8. $&@*! $&@*! $&@*! $&@*! $&@*! Again.
    9. I wonder if Erik has all of these parts.
    10. Damn, I just swept the floor too.
    11. $&@*!!

Well, I know Roger is going to make fun of me for this one, but hopefully he gets me in the newsletter this month for it.
  5. Shane crash version 1

    Posted 2 Dec 2008
