Minot Aircraft Modelers Discussion Board: Stebe - Viewing Profile

The reason I have chose another Skybolt?????? The first one didn't have many flights on it. Also this plane was a gift for Christmas from my parents in '86. As many of you know the kit hasn't been made since the '80?s, so I ebayed it. I found two kits. The one I have came with the factory fiberglass and 2 aftermarket cowls and wheel pants all for $140.00 including shipping.

The kit is a Sig and is going together well the balsa is in good shape too, lots of stock. The plans are clear as well as the instructions. This kit is also "old school" with only the ribs being die cut and the rest of the parts printed on balsa sheets. This is where I enjoy building this kit. I am using my skill and my hands to be sure the plane goes together right. Shaping, sanding, filling, making streamlined cabane struts vs. wire from the kit, trimming the turtle deck to facilitate a pilot/cockpit.etc. This is a good "craftsman" kit! The engine, I will keep that a secret, I?m leaning towards a 4 stroke though.
